Despite Surging Shipping Costs, Woven Bag Exports Grow and Factories Run at Full Capacity
Starting in May 2026, shipping costs for container shipments worldwide have jumped up across the US, Europe, Middle East and South America routes, breaking the usual low off-season prices.
Spaces on cargo ships are tight, and it’s common for carriers to bump shipments to later vessels.
The Shanghai Containerized Freight Index (SCFI) rose for five weeks straight and topped 3,000 points by late May. Rates climbed over 50% in just one month, and were more than 70% higher compared to the year’s lowest level back in February.
Despite the continued rise in shipping costs, Hebei Shengshi Jintang Packaging Co., Ltd.'s orders for PP woven bags and ton bags have not shrunk. Overseas buyers continue to place orders and replenish stock regularly, keeping the factory's production schedule fully booked.
Driven by a continuous surge in overseas orders, the factory's filament drawing workshop is operating at full capacity, with the entire production line running day and night to meet demand. Dozens of filament drawing machines in the workshop operate continuously 24 hours a day, with the equipment extruding, drawing, and winding PP plastic filaments at high speed. The machines roar, and the production line never stops. Workers work in two shifts, with the day shift overseeing raw material feeding and equipment inspection, and the night shift responsible for winding finished filaments and screening defective products, ensuring a continuous supply of raw materials for the circular weaving workshop.
Affected by the concentrated orders from overseas for essential products such as cement, chemical powder, putty powder, and grain additives, all 14 block bottom valve bag production lines are operating at full capacity without stopping to handle bulk urgent overseas orders smoothly.
These production lines support mass customized production. Specifications like gram weight, ply layers and printing patterns can be adjusted as required, enabling stable delivery schedules.
